Local benefits
The San Juan tungsten project aims to generate value for the area where it is developed. Our objective is for mining activity to contribute to the economic and social development of Galicia, the province of Ourense, and the municipality of A Gudiña, creating employment opportunities and supporting local business activity.
In a region that — like many rural areas in Spain — faces challenges such as an ageing population and limited job opportunities, responsible industrial projects can play an important role in revitalising the local economy.
The project applies a local content policy, prioritising the engagement of companies, suppliers, and professionals from the region whenever possible. In fact, initial works have already been awarded to companies based in Ourense with experience in the sector, contributing to strengthening the local business ecosystem.

“Europe needs raw materials, but mining projects must also deliver real benefits to local communities. At San Juan, we aim to achieve both.”
Roberto García Martínez, CEO of Eurobattery Minerals AB
In addition to its economic impact, the project maintains an active relationship with the community. We participate in various social initiatives, collaborating with local organisations and supporting projects that contribute to community wellbeing, including social, sports, and educational activities.
The development of the project also takes into account the protection of the natural environment and cultural heritage, including the implementation of archaeological studies and specific measures to safeguard natural resources, particularly water resources.
Examples of concrete actions and commitments
- Working with local companies and suppliers, strengthening the regional business ecosystem and creating economic value in the area.
- Collaborating with local social organisations, such as the Red Cross, supporting community initiatives.
- Supporting social integration, for example by facilitating Spanish language classes for immigrants in the area.
- Supporting local economic initiatives, such as assisting beekeepers in the region.
- Supporting local sports, sponsoring community teams and activities.
- Providing logistical support in emergency situations, such as during the wildfires that affected the region in the summer of 2025.
- Respecting and preserving cultural heritage by carrying out archaeological studies prior to any ground disturbance.
- Promoting awareness of modern, responsible mining by participating in educational activities and visiting schools to explain how mining works today and its importance for society.
Our commitment is for the San Juan Project to represent an opportunity for regional development, combining economic activity, environmental responsibility, and close collaboration with the local community.
